2008 Rich River Trial

The 2008 Rich River Trial is round 3 of the 2008 HRA Rally Championship and will be held on Saturday 12th July.

Based at Echuca on the Murray River in north central Victoria, it will be a Multi-Club event that seeks to relive the great ‘historic’ trials of the 1960s and ‘70s. It will run under the Touring Road Event format that differentiates this Historic Trial style of event from modern, special stage forest rallies.

The chief aims of the event are to incorporate a sense of the adventure, endurance and socialising that made rallying so enjoyable in the ‘historic’ era.

The 2008 Rich River Trial will be conducted in the Gunbower, Koondrook and Perricoota Forests, using roads that have not seen a rally for 25 years or more. The roads of the Rich River country offer a wide variety of driving surfaces and conditions (with the potential for sand dunes, swollen rivers, mud, bogholes, yumps, gates etc) which reflect some of the features of historic rallying and the unique challenges that the Rich River forests have to offer.

This event aims to build on the 2007 event as something both different and memorable, that will attract crews to enjoy a late winter weekend away in sunny Echuca and the delightful Rich River country.
