1961 Shell Two Day Trial ReRun.
17th May 2024
The Historic Rally Association is proud to present the 1961 Shell Two Day Trial ReRun, a Navigation/Regularity event (Touring Road Event) based on the 1961 event.
It will run over two days on Saturday 5 & Sunday 6 October, 2024.
There will be an overnight break in Bendigo on the Saturday night with a Social get-together planned.
The route will follow, where possible, the original 1961 event which was, in those days, a “drive all night” event. We will not be doing that and in fact this event is designed for Rally Cars and Road Cars with the Regularity Stages (4 for the event) being optional for those just doing the Event Tour.
In 1961, the Shell Two Day Trial was a major trials event for the year.
It was won by Geoff Thomas in a Peugeot and the field boasted three works Falcons, three works Volkswagens and numerous other makes.
Notable drivers and crew were Ken Harper, Harry Firth and Doug Rutherford.
